The new Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center is named in honor of our beloved friend and neighbor Helen Hayes MacArthur in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to the American theater and to all performing arts.

The opening of the Center in her name, in her hometown of Nyack, New York, ensures that her legacy will inspire a new audience and new artists for the future. It fulfills her wish to provide a cultural force for all performers, actors, actresses, musicians, dancers, singers, playwrights, and others.

Audiences can now look forward to plays, musicals, new shows, revivals, concerts, film events, a Monday-Night Discovery series with readings of new works, and childrens shows.

The Center offers a host of special dramatic, musical, and dance performances, appearances by local artists, educational programs, community outreach initiatives and a school for gifted young people.
