Israel Crane (b. 1774) descended from one of Montclair's founding families and is remembered as a visionary merchant whose general store put a fledgling town on the map. Israel was only 22 in 1796 when he built what was thought to be an overly grand house for the time.
Open for tours year round. Admission $5 adults. Open Hearth cooking most Sundays from October til March.
