Then I spread lime pellets with the garden spreader to adjust the pH of the soil and then planted grass seed also with the spreader. <\/p>\n<p>For the vegetable garden,\u00a0I rented a &#8220;Merry Tiller&#8221; from a local rental shop. \u00a0This wa a &#8220;mid&#8217; tiller with the tines in the middle, the previous machine was a &#8220;rear&#8221; tiller with tines in the rear. \u00a0There is another model with tines in the front which I haven&#8217;t tried yet, the mid tiller worked fine after familiarizing myself with its operation. it took me two hours to complete a 20 X 40 foot garden willing down to about 6 inched and retilling the area several times.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I planted half of the garden with corn.  i mixed two varieties, Peaches and Cream Bi- Color Sweet Corn along with Silver Queen Hybrid Sweet Corn from the Weeks Seed Company. last year I tried &#8220;Kandy Korn&#8221;.<br \/>\n<iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&#038;OneJS=1&#038;Operation=GetAdHtml&#038;MarketPlace=US&#038;source=ss&#038;ref=ss_til&#038;ad_type=product_link&#038;tracking_id=dotshopper&#038;marketplace=amazon&#038;region=US&#038;placement=B00BSUJWHS&#038;asins=B00BSUJWHS&#038;linkId=YGR5BBVHGUK4676J&#038;show_border=true&#038;link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><br \/>\n<\/iframe><br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_768\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rt23.com\/hgjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2987.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-768\" src=\"https:\/\/rt23.com\/hgjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/IMG_2987-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"IMG_2987\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-768\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-768\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">20 x 40 Cornfield<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p>In the smaller garden I call the Weather Garden because that is where my weather station is located. <iframe style=\"width:120px;height:240px;\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com\/widgets\/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&#038;OneJS=1&#038;Operation=GetAdHtml&#038;MarketPlace=US&#038;source=ss&#038;ref=ss_til&#038;ad_type=product_link&#038;tracking_id=dotshopper&#038;marketplace=amazon&#038;region=US&#038;placement=B00LV857BM&#038;asins=B00LV857BM&#038;linkId=AZJLUN4LZB64PARC&#038;show_border=true&#038;link_opens_in_new_window=true\"><br \/>\n<\/iframe><br \/>\nI tilled this garden, the smaller of the two gardens, maybe 100 square feet.
